In 1892, the founder took a break from managing the Glenfiddich Distillery to build the nearby Balvenie distillery, which is also still owned by William Grant & Sons. In 1963, the distinctive three sided Glenfiddich bottle was introduced. That same year, the distillery also launched the first ever official single malt whisky.
